meet our trauma therapists

Jana Keith-Jennings, LCSW

Therapist

My most important credentials and successes…
My early clinical work focused on supporting individuals impacted by chronic and complex trauma, including those recovering from sexual violence, carceral and systemic violence, discrimination, and oppression. I’ve worked with veterans transitioning to civilian life, incarcerated individuals, sex workers, and LGBQ and T/GNB survivors of interpersonal and structural trauma. My clinical experience spans nonprofit, academic, and community-based settings including Brooklyn Defender Services, The Anti-Violence Project, Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), and the PROVE Project.

I completed foundational DBT training through Behavioral Tech and advanced training in DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) for PTSD with Melanie Harned, PhD and Lorie Ritschel, PhD. I have additional extensive training in a range of evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including CBT-E for eating disorders, CBT-AR for ARFID, and Family-Based Treatment (FBT).

Most recently, I’ve begun incorporating Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) into my work—an approach that supports healing through connection and attachment.

Fun facts about me…
I’ve practiced yoga and meditation since I was a teenager in the ’90s. I worked as a pastry chef for 15 years—and still love to cook. I studied art in undergrad and continue to make visual art as part of my personal practice.

My therapy philosophy…
To me, therapy is about relationship—not just the one between us, but the many you hold: with your thoughts, emotions, body, history, identity, and the world around you. When we better understand how we relate to these parts of ourselves, we gain more freedom to shift, heal, and grow.

My role is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and curious. With that foundation, you can reflect, rewrite old patterns, and try out new ways of being in the world.

My style…
I’m a collaborative therapist who offers structure, perspective, and practical skills—always grounded in your lived experience. I draw from a range of theories and tools, integrating what works best for your goals and values.

My approach is informed by intersectional, anti-oppressive frameworks including feminist, queer, disability, neurodiversity-affirming, and fat liberation perspectives. I aim to honor your expertise on yourself, and to partner with you in ways that feel respectful and empowering.
